With an idea to promote a healthy relationship and check crime in schools, Uttar Pradesh government banned teachers adds to students on social media websites and social messengers like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram.

Uttar Pradesh government has issued new guidelines to the Department of secondary education and have sent it to various schools attached to different Central and State Boards which, Indian Certificate in secondary education (ICSE) and Central Board of secondary education (CBSE). The guidelines include monitoring of communication between students and teachers and the need for vigilance staff to observe students using cell phones and the Internet during school hours.
Government has asked the teachers to avoid all sorts of online chats with students and have warned them about austerity measures. The government has planned to hold workshops in schools and make students aware of the demons of social media and learn studentâ's proper use. Officials have stated that these policies are student-friendly as these guidelines will promote healthy environment in schools and keep crime in check.
