The University of Calcutta (CU) has invited applications for the examination dates for Research Eligibility Test (RET-2014), which will be conducted in November 2014.
RET is conducted for taking admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme offered at the Department of Sociology for the academic session February 2015. The University of Calcutta is the first institution in South Asia to be established as a multidisciplinary and secular Western style university. It is recognised as a Five Star University and a Centre with Potential for Excellence by the University Grants Commission and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
Application forms will be accepted from September 15, 2014 to September 19, 2014.
Date of exam: November 3, 2014.
List of candidates eligible for the RET (Research Eligibility Test) will be published on the departmental notice board - September 26, 2014
Declaration of result (tentative): December 10, 2014
The minimum qualification requirement for a candidate is a Master's degree from a recognised university.

The entrance test will be of 80 marks written and 20 marks viva. The candidate has to write two essays of 40 marks each.
Questions will be set on the basis of MA syllabus of Calcutta University.
