College, Calicut, Kerala women of Providence, founded by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel is born on 1 July 1952 was the sacred mission of Mother Veronica the foundress of the Congregation of training young women who had embraced the religious life and send them along and wide on vocations of service to the community. Providence College women was the result of the efforts of a committed group, led by mother Gabrielle, who became the principal founder. This was a dream come true for young women in the Malabar region, which otherwise had to go to Mangalore or Madras in search of college women. Therefore, this college has opened a new chapter in the annals of Malabar, College its first women. The College is registered under the Apostolic Carmel Education Society, S n. 4, 1957, Calicut. The governing body of Educational Management includes provincial secretary, the principal, the club owner, a representative of the administration and a religious personnel appointed by the provincial superior.
The College was first affiliated to the University of Madras. Later, the affiliation was shifted after the Kerala University and the University of Calicut. In recent years the college has been aiming for excellence in curricular as extra - curricular fields by setting high standards in the academic world, which provides opportunities for young people to flourish in independent, confident and responsible.
The college has given due importance to extracurricular activities. Are given ample opportunity to express the talents of the students in creative writing, oratory, histrionics, dance and fine arts. The Apostolic Carmel, founded, by Mother Mary Veronica in 1868, offers the service of value based higher education to youth through academic pursuit for excellence, community service and empowerment of women.
The educational mission of the congregation is directed towards the total development of the person and instilling Gospel values in the students and forming responsible citizens of the country who will contribute to the transformation of the world in Christ. The special focus is on the formation of committed Christians who are filled with a sense of mission to their country and to the world.
