Ministry of Culture, Government of India offers scholarships schemes in different cultural contexts. This scholarship program aims to support young artists of outstanding promise for advanced training in India. These grants are awarded in the fields of Cultural Indian classical music, Indian classical dances, light classical music, theater, visual arts and folk, traditional and indigenous arts. 400 scholarships are awarded each year to young artists who have undergone a minimum of 5 years of training with the Institute / Guru.
Cultural grants awarded for the following fields of study:
Hindustani classical music (vocal and instrumental) Classical Carnatic Music (Vocal & Instrumental etc ..)
Indian classical dance / dance music
Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Mohiniattam, Odissi dance / music, Manipuri dance / music Thangta, Gaudiya Nritya, Chhau Dance / Dance Music, Sattriya.
Any specialized aspect of the art of theater, including acting, direction, etc., but excluding research and drama; and MIM.
Graphics, sculpture, painting, creative photography, ceramics & pottery, etc ..
Folk arts, traditional and indigenous
Puppets, popular theater, dances, folk songs, folk music, etc.
Light classical music
-Thumri, Dadra, Tappa, Qawali, Ghazal
-Light style based on Carnatic classical music, etc.
-Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geet, Atulprasad.
Applicants should be Indian nationals;
Candidates must have an adequate general education to continue their education effectively;
Candidates must provide evidence of their desire to research their training effectively;
As the grants are intended for advanced training and not for beginners, applicants must already acquired a degree of competence in the chosen field;
The candidate must have had at least 5 years with his Guru / training institutes. The certificate for this purpose in Part II of this Proforma duly signed by Guru / Institute and former Guru / Institute (if applicable) will be submitted along with the application;
Candidates must have an adequate knowledge of the online arts / disciplines.
Age of candidate should not be less than 18 and not more than 25 years as on 1st April of the year in which the application is made. Age relaxation is not permissible.
Duration: The duration of the scholarship is 2 years.
Value of scholarship:
Each student will be paid Rs. 5000 / - per month for a period of two years to cover their traveling expenses, books, art materials and equipment or other fees or costs of training, if applicable.
The scholar must undergo a rigorous training. This training will include at least three hours a day to practice only a part time employee to acquire knowledge of the theory of the subject / field concerned and the evaluation of disciplines.
The nature of the training will be determined in each case after taking into account previous training and the bottom of the scholar. Normally, it will be in the nature of training in advance of a Guru or master in a recognized institution.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE & SELECTION
Eligible candidates can apply online for cultural grants. An announcement inviting applications issued by the Ministry of Culture every year during March-April.
Documents required to be submitted along with the application:
1 certified copy of degrees, diplomas and certificates, etc. if any, in support of the statement regarding the degree of education, experience, etc. in the application. In any case the original documents must be attached.
1 certified copy of the registration certificate or equivalent, or if any other satisfactory proof of age (except horoscope).
1 passport photograph recently taken; candidates applying for dance should send also three photographs dress completely different positions in real balls.
In the case of applications for grants in the field of painting, sculpture and applied arts, are required to submit certified copies of the photographs of the original works together with the duly confronted by Supervisor / head of the institution and founded a music cassette audio recording of the applicant must be attached with the application closely with a label. The minimum is the Visual Arts Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent.
Application will be presented separately for each field, if the candidate wishes to incorporate a field.
As the grants will be awarded for advanced training, candidates should have undergone a minimum of 5 years with his Guru / training institutes.
