Government Engineering College, Wayanad is the College of Engineering is established and operated by the Government of Kerala, India. It was opened in 1999 with consumption of 120 students in computer science and electronics and communication engineering. A new course in electrical engineering and electronics began in 2010, the consumption of 60 students and one course in mechanical engineering was launched in 2014 with the admission of 60 students. College is part of Kannur University.  It also has two sewing courses. Sewing in handling engineering & communication signal began in 2011, the consumption of 18 students. In 2014, with the admission of the other 18 students starting a new course in sewing and network security.
GEC Wayanad is in Thalapuzha, 6 km from the city Manathavady.
The college is located in a hilly area of Wayanad. Wayanad was formerly called «Wayalnadu» Kerala, which is a picturesque elevated plateau on the crest of the Western Ghats. This college is one of four new engineering colleges in the state was created in 1999. It was inaugurated on the Minister of Education, the Honourable Mr. PJJoseph January 17, 2000.
