In the year of silver jubilee, Kerala Institute of Travel and Tourism research has added new infrastructure, training block and girls hostel and well on its way to become prime Institute of Travel and Tourism Research.
KITTS established by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of Kerala on the World Tourism Day in 1988 was recently announced as the nodal agency for rolling out initiatives of responsible tourism in the state. Until last week KITTS functioning of the inheritance of the 200-year old building, which is in dire need of updating. The institute aims to Rs 5 crore from the Union government last year to repair the structure, but did not stand out either. Director Rajashree Ajith KITTS doctor said institution asks for money again and I hope that they will get the money.
KITTS already won the trust center, successfully implemented the scheme Hunar Se Rozgar Tak - skill development training program aimed at the employment of young people from economically weaker sections - with 1380 students who have successfully completed the program. Central Institute received grant of Rs 60 lakhs 1crore for the program last year and she recovered Rs 7 cr for training students, 7560 this year.
KITTS was accredited to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism in October.
