According to a recent survey of Kerala and Manipur topped the list of the largest number of students in private schools, while Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar in the majority of students in the public schools of the country.
Annual Status of Education Report Delhi-based NGO Pratham also said students in primary schools in the country was 96 percent but raised serious concerns about the quality of education. Meanwhile, the number of girls entering the 11-14 age group rose 6% in the past year, the survey said.
The government's right to education (RTE) Act seems to have paid off. "The percentage of schools that meet the standards pupil student ratio RTE increases each year, from 38.9% in 2010 to 45.3% in 2013", - said the survey.
