Prison Department of Rajasthan State services, while maintaining the reliable persons sent to prisons in the State. Prisoners are held in a safe, humane, cost-efficient, and appropriately secure and controlled environment of prisons and provide jobs and other opportunities of self-improvement, to help offenders become law-abiding citizens. the Division was created to provide a progressive and humane care of detainees, professional service, and ensure consistent and centralized administration of State prisons in operation.
Today the Division is made up of 119 prison, 2 regional offices and Central Office (Headquarters), 1 officer and training centre. Regional offices and Central Office provide administrative control and support of the departments of correctional services.
The Division is responsible for the protection and care of more than 17000 prisoners. the Division protects the public safety, to ensure that offenders serve their sentences of imprisonment in accordance with the law. This helps in reducing the potential for future criminal activity by encouraging inmates to participate in a range of programs that have been proven to reduce re-offending. Approximately 3000 employees of the Department of public safety prisons; ensure that prisoners needed programs and services, and the values of the mainstream model.
