Gurukul Vishwavidyalaya pocket Kangra, founded by Swami Shradhanandji on March 4, 1902, to regain the ancient Indian Gurukul style of education. The main objective of the university is to provide indigenous alternative to Lord Macaulay education policy by imparting education in the areas of vedic literature, Indian culture, Indian culture, modern sciences and research.
A wide range of courses, from ancient to modern education offered by the University cater to the educational needs of the region. University was given the status of deemed University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1962.
The four-star status has issued the University a national accreditation and assessment of the Council (Polona) in 2002.
The university library has also been the same since the establishment of the university in 1902. Has a rich collection of books that make up the 2336 book consists of very authentic books on education, history, biography, science and Sanskrit.
