A GATE qualification opens up various opportunities for candidates, said Vikas Slariya which trains engineering students by competitive examination.
"A good GATE rating ensures a good job," said Slariya, author of the popular book 'Mechanical Engineering GATE' IndiaToday.in in an interview.
"It is almost 217 public enterprises in India and most of them choose candidates through GATE score. Students who qualify in GATE is entitled to a grant of Rs 8,000 per month during their M.Tech course," he said.
He said that those who have done M Tech or me getting better remuneration compared with those with B. Tech or be degrees.

"When did M.Tech courses at IITs and IISc, one can look at a salary packages of Rs 7 lakh to 28 lakh annually, depending on the specialization and performance. GATE students are also eligible to pursue master's degree at the National University of Singapore," he said.
Asked if several engineering goes against management courses instead of technical education, Slariya said: "I do not think that there is any change in trend. Technical education is still preferred by the majority of students. In fact, there is an increase in the number of GATE aspirants each years. B Tech graduates consider GATE / GRE / CAT / CSAT as most reliable, "he said.
