Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is formed by an Act of Parliament that the company Secretaries Act, 1980 (Act number 56-1980). ICSI is the only recognized professional body in India to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries in India. Institute of Company Secretaries of India awards bestowing the designation of the Secretary (CS) to a candidate qualifications for members of the Institute. It was in 1960, the Council initiated a law course at the secretariat of the company, leading to the award of a diploma to the secretariat of the government. As the number of students of the course, the secretariat of the government encourages October 4, 1968 Institute of Company Secretaries of India in accordance with § 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 to take over the government of the examination of the secretariat. Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has since been converted into a statutory body WEF 01.01.1981 Company Secretaries Act, 1980 Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has on its rolls 27,313 members including 5,225 members holding certificate of practice. Current students is over 3,60,000.
