Christ Nagar College of Education is an institution under the Congregation of CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate), which provides its services in the field of education for over 150 years. CMI fathers in the hall of the monastery, Kaudiar, Thiruvananthapuram are members of the governing body. College follows the policy strictly in accordance with the course charted CMI congregation in harmony with the great educational ideas proposed by the Fathers of the Congregation, especially happy Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Congregation sees education as an integral part of the development of the human personality and to fulfill their individual and social responsibilities. The aim is towards the formation of teachers who intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy, socially acceptable, loving God and who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace and who are always open to further growth.
The College started functioning during the 2005 - 2006 school year. There are five optional subjects provided (English, mathematics, physical sciences, natural sciences and social sciences) with a strength of 20 students in each subject. Particular attention is paid to the overall development of student teachers. All-around excellence in all areas of teaching learning process is the ultimate goal of Christ Nagar College of Education. Located in a beautiful hillock amidst lush greenery, the College provides an ideal environment for educational activities and programs. With its clear educational vision Christ Nagar College of Education is the torch bearer of the uncompromising spirit of truth and in the various aspects of learning and leadership.
Goals and Objectives
Accordingly, the Governing Council reviewed the purpose of Christ Nagar College of Education as follows:
form teachers who intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy and socially acceptable;
to enable teachers-in-training to uphold the cause of justice, love, truth and peace, and be constantly open to further growth;
to facilitate the teachers-in-training to serve the nation in general and the Christian community in particular;
form a skillful, learned and dedicated teachers who are committed to national development and education;
develop study habits and healthy gourmet social relations; and
instill national values of ahimsa, spirituality, truth, tolerance, brotherhood, democracy, secularism, national integration and international understanding, and to defend them, even risking their lives.
