Career Options in Rotoscoping

Rotoscoping is one of the oldest animation techniques invented by Max Fleischer in 1914. In rotoscoping tracked live action video to create animation that mimics live-action. Rotoscoping involves creating animated characters used to isolate or highlight items in recordings, such as signs, vehicles, buildings etc. This method for making choices artist can perform specific operations such as color correction, effects etc. on these items. Rotoscoping is a process in which animators used to capture realistic human movement by drawing over the film of live actors to use it in animated films. The action traced just to get the lines to take the picture, try to keep consistent line work from frame to frame as you follow live-action video motion. These lines are then transferred to cells and painted as usual traditional animation.

Previously, recorded live-action film images were projected onto a glass panel was frosted where an animator will draw them. Associated projector or animation stand called rotoscope. 1990s, projectors were replaced by computers and computer-based rotoscopying was done with a software called ColorBurst, which is an image-editing tools like Photoshop.

In rotoscoping is the interesting fact that did not meet the reality of live-action and imagination of animation; they just overlap and ingrain in their substance. The main function of rotoscoping is to leverage dual identity created by experiencing live-action and animation simultaneously.

Rotoscoping is much like animation and is one of the most time-consuming work. Helped by motion tracking and onion software, rotoscoping often used as a tool for visual effects in live-action films. About blue and green screen techniques have become the preferred choice for the process of layering subjects in scenes, playing rotoscoping still an important role in visual effects images. In VFX industry create concept rotoscoping refers to the technique of manually one Matt (clear area) for an item on a live-action plate, so it can be composited over another background.

How rotoscoping done

Rotoscoping is the first step in the process of converting conventional movies to Stereo 3D. Roto artists track areas of live-action frames where computer graphics will overlap or interact with live pictures. They get very realistic movement of tracing over actor in the scene. The artist must create various forms around an object and animate these figures corresponds movement on each frame. They trace the object using a set of tools in compositing software to create a new alpha channel in a specific part of an image sequence or video. This creates clear areas (masks) in the frame so that all elements of the scene to be layered convincing.

Rotoscoping software works with splines, which is a series of points which are connected by a line or curve. These contractions adjusted from image to image, so they continue to adapt to the figure artist is tracking. Depending on the complexity of the shot, the process of rotoscoping take hours or days to complete. Rotoscope output may have deviation from the true line that differ from frame to frame, which when animated cause animated line shake unnatural, or "boil".

Different types of digital rotoscoping techniques visual effects are:

Matt establishment
Draw Effects - usually used to quickly add new elements to a scene.
Cloning / paint touch-up
Digital cloning
stereoscopic conversion
motion tracking
RRotoscoping considered a subordinate position in the field of visual effects. Requires much education and experience to be an alias rotoscope rotoscoping / roto artists. Knowledge of rotoscoping is a fundamental element for those who want an animation and designing career.

Most institutes learned rotoscoping with animation, design, illustration, painting, drawing courses. Just some institutes offering certificate courses in rotoscoping as three months duration. Minimum prerequisite for use is 10 passport. Rotoscoping courses cover all the basic elements of rotoscope node, not only focuses on software, but also necessary rotoscope techniques to create large meshes. Through these courses, students learn how to prep, adjust, light, shoot, edit and send professional 3D style. Acquiring sufficient knowledge in programs like Adobe Photoshop, silhouette FX, imagineers Mokka, Adobe After Effects, flame / smoke, Digital Fusion, Nuke etc. will be beneficial for aspiring candidates.

A good roto artist must know how to motion track to perform better hides. Artists need to be updated on the latest animation advances, as well as being skilled with precise drawing and painting required for tracking live
