Department of the Interior the right to prosecute the crime of former officials of Kerala University, accused of corruption and favoritism in appointments to the post of Assistant University (UA) class-II in 2005.
Officials said that the government will issue a notice to that effect, the governor believes that its consent is not required for prosecution of suspects.
They include former Vice-Chancellor MK Ramachandran Nair, pro vice-chancellor V. Dzhayaprakash, members of the syndicate BS Rajiv, Rashid AA, KA Andrews, NV Russell and former secretary KA Hashim.
The accused were charged conspiracy, fraud, corruption, nepotism and forgery and destruction of evidence, among other crimes.
